Magneti Marelli at the 82th International Auto Show in Geneva.

- 08.03.2012

A premiere display of new cars is always a showcase opportunity for companies that produce parts used in the latest car models.

This year the Magneti Marelli company has strongly emphasized its presence among producers of parts aimed at the first assembly. The technologies and products of Magneti Marelli can be seen in cars, such as: Fiat 500L, Citroën C4 Aircross, Peugeot 208, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Porsche Boxster.

Of particular interest is the equipment found in the expected Fiat 500L model which uses a wide range of Magneti Marelli parts - from the lighting system (headlights and DRL Daylight Running Light) to the exhaust system and suspension components. In this model, you can also find Magneti Marelli's robotized gearbox Freechoice which guarantees maximum comfort with a significant reduction in fuel consumption and reduced emissions. Fiat Panda 0.9 TwinAir Turbo 85 CV Dualogic is also equipped with the same gearbox. There are also other elements designed by Magneti Marelli used in this car - the lighting system components, electronic engine control unit, sets of indicators, the suspension system elements and shock absorbers, the exhaust system components and plastic parts (bumpers, fuel tank).

The new Peugeot 208, apart from dampers in the new generation of the gasoline engines 1.0 VTi and 1.2VTi, is equipped with the latest onboard multimedia infotainment system by Magneti Marelli, named Touchscreen in the 208 model. The system allows you to play music files from mobile devices (phones, MP3). Touchscreen together with the mobile modem Peugeot Connect also provides access to a new generation of Peugeot Connect Apps which will be available in this year. The modem connected to the CAN network can transmit information and data relating to the vehicle navigation with a 7-inch touch screen of high resolution (800x480 pixels). Thanks to its Bluetooth 2.0 port, the system can work with 5 mobile phones and the USB port allows you to connect a USB stick or an iPod.

Citroën offers its version of C4 Aircross - a compact SUV featuring Magneti Marell's halogen or xenon headlamps with AFS and onboard multimedia infotainment system with USB and Bluetooth ports.

The Magneti Marelli equipment also could not be missing in such vehicles as Ferrari and Porsche. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta uses high-tech components such as a multi-function instrument panel with a color TFT display, LED tail lamps and an electronic control unit with software for controlling the Active Brake Cooling system or shutters of the brake cooling air inlets. F12 Berlinetta has a front axle Superlift system - a system of hydraulic actuators driven pump powered by an electric motor and controlled by an electronic control unit making it possible to easily raise the vehicle and ride on uneven surface.

Porsche, in Geneva, presented the new Boxster which will be sold with a set of Magneti Marelli indicators referring to the characteristic appearance of the cars from Stuttgart. The three circular elements carry all the information necessary for the driver - speedometer, tachometer, multi-function 4.6 inch TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display screen. The whole set comes full with a speaker and amplifier.

Marelli Magneti Marelli’s technologies and parts also appear in cars where, this year, more or less of a lifting effect is provided, such as Audi A4 and RS4 Avant featuring halogen or xenon headlamps with AFS, rear lights in LED technology and a set of indicators by Magneti Marelli.

As for the concept cars, Magneti Marelli worked with Pininfarina on the implementation of the Cambiano model in which the propulsion system consists of four electric motors, one at each wheel, and a gear motor. Engines made by Magneti Marelli are mounted on the front and back of the frame, and each of them has a power of 60 kW in continuous mode and the peak power of 150 kW, with a maximum total capacity of 600 kW and torque of 640 Nm,
